  • Saturday, February 27 at 7P

Director:  Scott Tobin.  Appropriate for most audiences - PG.  All seats are general admission and $5.00.  Tickets will be on sale one hour before curtain.

In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international
celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage until the girls who
painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease.  Inspired by
a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a
dial painter, as she fights for her day in court.  Her chief adversary
is her former employer Arthur Roeder, an idealistic man who cannot
bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors
could have anything to do with the terrifying rash of illnesses among
his employees.  As the case goes on, however, Grace finds herself
battling not just with the U. S. Radium Corporation, but with her own
family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will
backfire.

STAGE DIRECTIONS MAGAZINE HONORS DAVIDSON

Each year, Stage Directions magazine honors high schools that "have taken their theatre program to state-of-the-art status" in terms of number of productions per year; the size of those productions; dedicated theatre space; and, most importantly, the depth of the theatre arts program in preparing students for the variety of opportunities available in theatre.  We have just been notified that Davidson is one of six high schools to receive this recognition for 2009 (5 high schools in the US and 1 in Canada).  Stage Directions subscribers and others in the theatre community nominate schools, while the winners are selected by the editors and writers of Stage Directions. Look for the story in the November issue.

If you'd like to participate in our Friends of Davidson Theatre - STARS program...

If you would like to provide additional financial assistance to our theatre program, you can participate in our patron program at the Star, Director, Producer, or Angel levels.  For more information see the "Top Ten Ways to Spend" attachment at the bottom of the page.

RECYCLING - RAISE $ AND BE ENVIRONMENTALLY AWARE...

We are recylcing the following items through Terracycle.  They pay us $.02 for each item we collect and they turn them into useable items.  If you have any of the following items over the next school year, please donate them to us - you'll help us get to Scotland and be kind to Mother Earth:

  • Scotch brand tape dispensers (the real Scotch tape)
  • Capri Sun containers
  • Nabisco cookie wrappers
  • Ritz Toasted Chips bags
  • WILDCAT WRAPS ARE ALL NOW $20 EACH: Cold at those soccer games, football games, other outdoor events, or watching television on your couch???  We have the solution:  Wildcat Wraps!  Similar to Snuggies, these blue beauties sport a Hilliard H, the word "Hilliard", and a pawprint - good for any Hilliard school!  They are totally awesome and very warm!  If you're interested, contact Carole Eidemiller at capritta@columbus.rr.com.

HIRE OUR GIGGLE FACTORY for your event! Giggle Factory is our silent clown and children's skit troupe that travels.  It has routines and activities that are perfect for a variety of events such as birthday parties, business openings, children's events, etc.  This group works each year to raise $500 for a scholarship for one of our graduating seniors who is pursuing theatre in college.  After this commitment is fulfilled, they will donate all their earnings to the students traveling to Scotland for their trip.

SILENT AUCTION:  Thank you to everyone who participated in our silent auction during Fools.  It was awesome!  Thank you especially to Mr. Tony Moog for organizing it all for us!

BATTLE OF THE BANDS on Saturday, January 23 has been cancelled.

RENT-A-KID Our students are working hard to earn the money for their trip.  They aren't asking for a hand-out, but a helping-hand.  They are looking for jobs they can do that dove-tail with their academic schedules.  So...Need a room painted?  Need a basement cleaned?  Need your lawn mowed or your snow shoveled?  Need "stuff" packed up?  Need a babysitter?  Need some filing done, some cookies baked, a dog sat, laundry done? Or, just hate to iron?  Our teens are willing to work for YOU.  Simply call Diana Vance at 771-2299 during the school day and leave a message;  someone will contact you promptly.  Or, you can send us an e-mail at diana_vance@hboe.org.
