Davidson Theatre Thespians

Hilliard Davidson High School sponsors Educational Theatre Association and International Thespian Society Troupe #1316. This troupe is part of an international honor society for high school theatre students who have exhibited meritorious participation in their high school's theatre program. Participation in Drama Club and/or Tech Crew activities/events along with other criteria determine eligilibty for membership in this organization. Each May, eligible students are inducted into the International Thespian Society. This induction serves as a gateway to earning a Varsity Letter in theatre at Hilliard Davidson High School, earning Honor Thespian status, and participating in activities and scholarships only available to thespians such as participation in the All-Ohio Thespian production, the Ohio Educational Theatre Association's theatre scholarship program, and service on the Ohio Educational Theatre Association's board of directors as a state student officer. Students earning the rank of Honor Thespian wear a blue and gold Thespian Honor Cord with their graduation robes at their commencement.

2012-2013 Thespian Opportunities

  • Ohio EdTA Troupe Development Day: Finding Your Place - It's time to kick-off the school year and to become excited about the upcoming year.  This event, formerly called Leadership Day, has been re-imagined.  Here is what is being offered:
    • Leadership Training:  Ohio EdTA's State Student Officers will lead two workshops thata focus on developing leadership with the troupe.  This is a perfect track for up and coming students who want to become leaders at Davidson.  In addition, these students will attend workshops on troupe organization and troupe promotion and advocacy.
    • Beginning Tech Workshops:  This is for new techies to receive basic training in lighting, sound, and technical theatre safety.  In addition, these students will attend a workshop about the opportunities offered through the International Thespian Society and Ohio EdTA.
    • Beginning Performance Workshops: This is for budding performers where they will attend sessions in auditioning skills, warm-up techniques, and disaster planning (what should I do if...).  These students will also attend a workshop about the opportunities offered through the International Thespian Society and Ohio EdTA.
  • TOTS-EAT food drive on Treat or Treat (all members can participate) - We will trick or treat in our home neighborhoods on October 31st between 6 and 7 p.m.  We will then converge on Bradley's Black Box Theatre (like our rm. 70) at 7:30 p.m. with all of the canned goods and dry goods that we have collected.  All three high schools will be participating.  Dress up, have fun, and meet new friends.  Who knew doing something to help others could have so many benefits!?  Don't miss out!
